You are invited to attend a celebration honoring

 The New

DWOW

Downtown Washington on the Waterfront has under gone many changes over the past six months: we have changed presidents, eliminated the Executive Director position, and have several new faces on our Board of Directors. These events have caused us to examine how DWOW has operated in the past and to institute changes in order for DWOW to become a volunteer driven, grass roots organization

Our goal is to make downtown Washington a diverse and vibrant place to live, work and visit. We believe the only way to accomplish this is to enlist the ideas and support of those in our community who also want the downtown to reach it's full potential.

The DWOW Board is committed to supporting projects and activities which have the interest and enthusiasm of those willing to donate their time and energy to make them happen. We realize that for committees and work groups to be effective, they must be given the authority to make decisions and act independently. Volunteers will be supported, not directed, by office staff.

Please join us to help us express appreciation for those who are current or former volunteers, and to welcome those of you who may wish to volunteer in the future. DWOW has several exciting activities underway or just starting up, such as the Waterfront and Harbor Management plan, the Saturday Market, Pickin’ on the Pamlico, building a performance pavilion adjacent to the Estuarium, just to name a few. At the reception you'll be able to meet committee chairs and board members to learn more about what DWOW is doing and how you might want to contribute.

We look forward to seeing old friends, and to making new ones.
